“Unstabled” is a Targa Newfoundland speced ‘66 Mustang
it’s a full-on race car, reimagined for both rugged rally stages and high-speed showcases. It’s engineered to tackle rough roads, Pikes Peak, Speed Week, Area 27, and more, blending raw performance with audacious ambition, yet it’ll be street legal and will see many long distance road trips and such
Meet Unstabled, our 1966 Ford Mustang purpose-built for the demanding challenges of Targa Newfoundland. This is far more than a restoration or performance build, it's a fully engineered competition car designed to conquer the rough, unpredictable roads of one of the world's most demanding motorsport events.
Built with versatility and performance in mind, Unstabled is destined not only for Targa Newfoundland, but also for events such as Pikes Peak, Speed Week, Area 27, and more. The best part is, it’s street legal and will see many miles on the public roads as well.
One of the most striking features of the car is its handcrafted widebody design, expertly fabricated by Kurt Penner, co-owner of Jellybean AutoCrafters. Beneath the custom bodywork sits a supercharged Ford Coyote V8 producing an impressive 750 horsepower, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission for maximum driver engagement and control.
The customized chassis is equipped with a fully engineered race suspension system capable of generating 1.06G on the skid pad, delivering the grip and handling required for high speed competitions. From the fabrication and engineering to the countless custom details throughout the build.
Every aspect of Unstabled has been designed with performance, durability, and precision in mind.
This is the kind of project that showcases what can happen when craftsmanship, creativity, and motorsport passion come together. And this is only the beginning, the list of impressive details on this build goes on and on.

This project couldn’t happen without our great sponsors, who’ve stepped up Major progress happening on the Targa Newfoundland ‘66 Mustang. September’s event is just around the corner so we hope it’s safe to drive across Canada with two cars (Mustang in the trailer) that’ll be participating in the event by then.
This project couldn’t happen without our great sponsors who’ve stepped up big time to make it happen. Check them out, these folks are awesome to deal with;

Here’s the muscle and the drivers behind taking the checkered flag at the Targa Newfoundland race, once it’s completed.
750 plus horsepower supercharged Coyote engine with a 6 speed manual transmission and Chris Alston ChassisWorks suspension in a highly modified 1966 Mustang driven by James and navigated by Jay.
A boatload of work is still ahead of us plus a ton of track time to make sure everything is set up just right for the ultimate street race.
Remember the Molson Indy in downtown Vancouver? Now picture a race in Newfoundland with no barriers, with full out race prepped Mustangs, Corvette’s, Porsche’s, Lamborghini’s, etc., all blasting at speeds up to 150 miles per hour along the ocean and other roads. Welcome to Targa Newfoundland, it doesn’t get much more exciting than.
A special thanks to our sponsors;

The 1966 Mustang, Targa Newfoundland full on race car body has been channeled over the frame by just over an inch to give it a better/lower appearance later on when it becomes the grocery getter for the family.
The floors are sunk into the frame to give better head clearance for the occupants.
This rear suspension by Chris Alston Chassisworks provides such a great handling, yet street-able ride for this project. Their products fit perfectly and look great so with the performance that they supply, this Mustang will hold its own at the Targa event and others it’ll compete in, and still be a great looking/performing street car afterwards for many years to come.
